Tyrannosaurus Rex, probably the most recognizable dinosaur, lived in the Late Cretaceous Period and was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs. As far as carnivors went, it’s size (40 feet long, 13 feet tall, weighing 9 tons) was outmatched only by the Spinosaurus (10 feet longer).
Over 30 specimens of T-Rex have been excavated, and many things have been learned from their remains. It had a huge head, mouth, and tail. It had 60 teeth, all different sizes, with the longest measuring 7.9 inches! Tyrannosaurus Rex lived to be about 30 years old and could run approximately 25 miles per hour.
Like all dinosaurs, T-Rex was eliminated by the Cretaceous-Palaeogene extinction event about 65 million years ago.
