Brachiosaurus, which name translates to “arm reptile”, lived in the late Jurassic Period. it was one of the biggest land animals ever, estimated at 80 tons at 85 feet long, 12 times the size of large elephant! Its front legs were longer than the hind ones, so its back sloped upwards to head. It had close cropping teeth for nipping food, adapted to eat the most elevated plant material such as conifer leaves and fruit. An upright stance and elevated neck meant it could graze from trees no other sauropod could reach…vegetation up to 30 feet off the ground.
